Bridge
The inauguration speech by Mary McAleese, former President of Ireland, referenced ‘Building Bridges’ throughout. I was influenced by her words and the idea of linking people and communities. As part of a project entitled “Qua-Art’, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Galerie Beeld & Aambeeld in Enschede, Netherlands, I was chosen to design and make a piece of jewellery to celebrate someone I admired. I presented the subsequent 18ct yellow gold and silver necklace to President Mary McAleese in December 2004.
