Diamond Data

I turned 60 this year, a significant life milestone. I wanted to make a piece of jewellery to celebrate!
I am influenced by the punch card process used by a Jaquard loom in the application of designs on linen. This process in turn influenced the early coding used in the Babbage computer information technique.
Each of the 11 silver sections of the necklace represent a punch card (9 holes each), certain holes are filled with 18ct yellow tubing and set with diamonds, synonymous with 60th anniversaries. When the necklace is worn it forms a hendecagon (11 sided shape) on the neck. And when the “punch cards” are concertinaed together the 41 diamonds spell out the number 60.
